You can view it if you have access to a web browser such as mosaic, lynx, cello, or one of the other web browsers. (BTW, all are freeware available by FTP, so if you can just get your system administrator to set one of them up, you'll be set. Usually, I think they use Lynx for text-based systems and Mosaic for graphics-based). There isn't that much serious music stuff on the net, as compared to what there is for some sciences (biology, math, physics, etc). There is more on pop music than anything. For instance, the newsgroup comp.music, which was started to be a place for people interested in doing music theory with the help of computers, has largely been taken over by people who use computers to sequence tunes (ie, pop tunes). As far as ftp sites, Oak.oakland.edu and other simtel mirror sites (I believe there is one in Korea) have a subdirectoy dedicated to music stuff. There are some music mailing lists around, if you're interested I could find out addresses (I've got them around here somewhere . . . ) There are some gopher sites, too, but nothing too exciting that I've seen.
