The south end of the Platte Purchase Bridge is near the Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City, Kansas. The north end is near the Argosy Casino, Riverside, Missouri.The bridge has two lanes in each direction. On the northbound bridge there are no noticeable shoulders on either the inside or the outside lane. The northbound bridge is slightly wider (and newer) than the southbound.
The bridge has relatively low traffic and, despite the lack of dedicated bicycle accommodations or shoulders, it is still one of the most popular routes for individuals and organized bicycle rides to cross the Missouri River.
